Jerry became increasingly mediated through the technology of television (like many people of his generation and state of health). He was consumed by his Beko 28C723WNS 28" TV which broadcast the recently introduced Sky TV in the Republic of Ireland circa 2004 ( the same era as the transfer from dial-up to broadband in rural Ireland).

Jerry became so connected with his BEKO TV that in the latter years of his life he lived on the couch. Was Jerry unwittingly talking about our (meta) physical relationship with technology? These technological apparatus seemed to now embody us. Had we become wired and later wireless hosts, becoming extensions of our technical surroundings?

Pause on Chance the Gardener (Chance, a simple gardener, has never left the estate until his employer dies. His simple TV-informed utterances are mistaken for profundity.) He wanders aimlessly into the city having been left desolate and evicted from the home where he spent his whole life. Approaches a TV shop window and controls the televisions inside with his own remote control.

Jerry constructs his own history from his armchair undoubtedly informed from the wealth of material he consumes. He projects his experiences and life to another reality where he is witness to and becomes the central figure to extraordinary events.
